Leo G. Gentil est un performer, danseur et artiste visuel. Iel s’intéresse à entre-deux, le presque, le continu, le doute. Iel ne sait pas faire d’objet séparable de lui alors tout ce qu’iel fait entre dans une pratique.
Il fait partie du groupe de performance Show Babe à Clermont Ferrand et à l’intérieur de ce collectif, il se penche sur les questions de care et de médiation en milieu militant comme en dehors. À cette fin et en collaboration avec Nina Segaud et Justine Perolari, iel va bientôt sortir un jeu de cartes issu du livre Changing The Conversation de Dana Casperson pour aider à la résolution de conflits dans la vie de tous les jours.
Sorti de deux années de conservatoire de théâtre (Xème arrondissement) à Paris, il a été deux ans dans les enceintes du c-e-m (centro-em-moviment) dans lequel il est tombé en danse et en anarchie.
Revenu en France en 2020, il est maintenant aux Beaux Arts de Clermont-Ferrand en deuxième année ou il cherche des chemins entre somatique, politique et arts visuel.
Depuis 2 ans il traduit tous les dimanches collectivement le livre Trans* : A Quick And Quirky Account Of Gender Variability de Jack Halberstam qui sera publié chez Libertalia en 2022.
Il passe le reste de son temps à tenter de faire le poirier en vain et étendre son coeur à plus d’êtres que ce que le système hétéropatriacal ne lui propose.
ABOUT
Léo is a performing artist and dancer based in Europe. Their pronouns are they/them (in Portuguese ele/o).
They begin their study of acting and performance at Montpellier’s Outil Théâtre and then enroll in the National Conservatory of Paris 10th Arrondissement in 2016 where they meet the embodied theater of French dramaturg, stage and acting director Vincent Frasse. During their second year at the Conservatory, they meet dancer and choreographer Nadia Vadori-Gauthier, who teaches movement to actors and opens Léo’s appetite for dance. The same year, in 2017, they encounter Melissa Bertrand and their Compagnie de l’Archée (former Compagnie La Sticomiss) that they integrate as the lead role for LISA, a piece that toured France in the Spring of 2018.
In 2018, they decide to leave Paris to study in Lisbon at the c-e-m (centro en movimento), a research center investigating movement, somatic practices and dance. It’s in Lisbon that they come out as trans and non-binary, a queer positioning which, today, plays an important role in their body-based research. They begin their work with HUMAIN/INHUMAIN, a performance project around gender binaries and their relationship with monstrosity/humanity. HUMAIN/INHUMAIN was notably co-produced by the Festival Hors-Lits/Lisbonne in November 2019.
